Family Creation 2 (parametric Arrays)
The ‘Cupboard Door Plain’ must
sit flush with the face of the
kitchen cupboard. So we will
use the ‘Align’ tool to achieve
this. Because it is an array we
must first align the 1 st element
in the array and the last
element. The elements in
between will form a step
pattern after aligning the first
element. This will go away once
the last element has been
aligned. After each align click
on the ‘Lock’ to lock the array
to the face of the kitchen
cupboard.
Our next step is to constrain
the Cupboard Door Plain, 1 st
and last elements of the array
a certain distance from the
ends of the kitchen cupboard.
So click on the 1 st element in
the array, move it to the left so
that it sits flush with the
reference plane and then move
it to the right by 10mm. Do the
same for the last element in
the array. We position the
elements this way because
dimensions that are made to
arrayed elements do not
become editable if their
referencing element is
selected.
Once the 1 st and last elements
of the arrays have been moved
dimension the space between
them and the reference planes
at either ends of the kitchen
cupboard. Click on these
dimensions and ‘Lock’ them
because we want them to stay
this distance from the edge of
the kitchen cupboard.
