Family Creation 1 (Basics)
Within the “Metric Door.rfa”
family template file, “Ref.
Level” Floor Plan View, we
can see that the door frame
already exists as a sweep,
and that parameters (Frame
Projection Ext., Frame
Projection Int.) for that door
frame has already been
applied. Select both the door
frame sweep and parameters
and press delete. We are
going to create our own
parameters for this door
family.
Browse to the “Exterior”
elevation view. Within this
view there are also
parameters and annotations
that we do not require at this
stage. Draw a reference plane
on either side of the door
opening.
To delete the highlighted
dimensions, we have to edit
the left dimension’s witness
line and snap it to the left
reference plane. Snap the
right dimension’s witness line
to the right reference plane.
Select both the dimensions
and the reference planes and
press delete.
Another height dimension will
appear to the left. Draw
another reference plane to the
left of the door, and snap the
highlighted dimension’s
witness line to the reference
plane. Select both the
dimension and witness line
and press delete.
