WORKSHOP 1 – SITE & PROJECT SETUP
In this workshop we are going to look at a few things that relate to setting up your project with the correct
co-ordinates and levels. We are also going to look at how to use a DWG from a land surveyor inside of Revit
and how to build the topography from it. Lastly we will be looking at Cut and Fill calculations of the
topography.
We will start with the DWG from the land surveyor.
Most DWGs that we want to import or link into our Revit drawings come in off-scale, they leave a very wide
or large space in our floor plans and sometime they are a couple of thousand meters hi. This is what you
get if the DWG has not been cleaned up properly in AutoCAD.
When requesting a DWG from a surveyor or other consultants ask that they draw it in the following manner
and information;
a.
b.
c.
d.
e.
f.
g.
h.
i.
The drawing must start at 0.0 origin on AutoCAD
The contour lines must be poly lines that are one continuous line per contour
The contour lines must have elevations
They must indicate the units used
They must indicate the horizontal and vertical grids ( longitude & latitude lines with values)
Contour values indicated
Co-ordinates of the cadastral information ( to check position in Revit)
The scale of the drawing in model space must be 1:1
The orientation must be indicated
