Added Stress
I know you don’t want to believe me.
You and your mom have a great relationship. You always have. She knows
you better than anyone else. She loves
you. She wants the best for you. But.
When you work with someone you
love, on something that’s already
pretty stressful, you have no one to
share your frustrations with. If mom
is hovering too much, or not accomplishing the tasks you’ve given her,
there’s no one to gripe to about it.
When you feel like you have to tiptoe
around someone, feelings get bottled
up and before you know it, you’re
more stressed than you ever imagined
you’d be. Planning something big
with feelings involved is a guaranteed
recipe for disaster. Bring in a third
party who can keep track of everything, manage stress on your behalf,
and help to keep you and your mom
on good terms.
Money Matters

I hate to say it, but if your mom has
any part of footing the bill for your
big day, she’ll be a lot less likely to
entertain your big ideas. It’s much less
fun to dream big with the person who
holds the purse strings. An experienced planner will have the knowhow to bring your dreams to life without breaking the bank, but your mom
will likely see numbers and put a stop
to wild ideas before they even get off
the ground. She’s not trying to ruin
your fun. It’s her job to think ahead
and be practical. You need someone
who can work behind the scenes to
make things happen without causing
anyone’s blood pressure to increase.
She’s not Wonder Woman
raphy, flowers, and budget, combined
with all the details of each, is daunting. There is no way your mom can
do all that and still have the energy
and heart left to enjoy the planning
process with you. Your mom should
be attending dress fittings, tasting
cakes, and throwing showers. You
want to be sure she enjoys the planning process as much as you do, and
if she’s got a to-do list that’s a mile
long, she never will.
Planners, on the other hand, we love
to-do lists. Highlighting, doublechecking, and crossing-off are some of
our favorite activities. Let the people
you love experience the joy alongside
you, and save the details for a professional.
