our nation’s first national monument, Devils Tower, a breathtakingly beautiful area near Sundance in the Northeastern side of the state becoming more and more popular for weddings. The area is one of my favorite places to drive in Wyoming – the red of the dirt, the color of the evergreens year round, the sweeping views … it’s just incredible. Being that the couple are avid rock climbers, it’s not surprising this was their wedding location of choice. The couple were married at an altar made from a log bed frame, with Bill Moral, a grade school teacher of Riley’s, officiating the wedding. “The ceremony took place right before sunset, and we took Riley and Mike’s formal photos during the golden {photography} hour,” Kimberly, associate of Ardent Photography, says. “Meanwhile, the kids at the wedding got to ride a wagon around the campsite.” The reception was a scene of comfort and fun. “Riley rocked a flannel shirt over her wedding dress and sandals for the better part of the night,” Kimberly says. The buffetstyle catering from The Ponderosa Café of nearby Hulett joined Riley’s homemade pies, with a single-tier aspen tree wedding cake. Riley’s DIY elements weren’t only limited to pies – she handcrafted the centerpieces, décor and her flowers as well. The guest book table nearby displayed photos and memories of loved ones from many generations. “After the wedding, we went to Banff, Alberta, Canada,” Riley says. “I highly recommend going – it was so beautiful! The fall leaves were gorgeous that time of year!” (I have to agree – Levi & I journeyed there ourselves for our August 2000 ۙ^[[
