W Y O M I N G W E D D I N G S Tanner & Steve Written by Kati Hime Photography by BHP Imaging T anner and Steve met “in true glamorous fashion,” as Tanner says – working together at the University of Wyoming’s College of Business. “Falling in love was easy,” Tanner says. “Life is full of surprises and twists and turns and we are both so thankful that our paths led us back to Laramie where we found each other.” While their story began in Laramie, their engagement took place across the country, in New York City. “We [went] to visit one of his best friends (Alain) just before the holi- days, and I had two ‘musts’ while we were there: I wanted to go to the taping of the Today Show to be one of those crazy loud people outside on the plaza, and I wanted to ice skate,” Tanner explains. When they headed to Central Park to skate, they were disappointed to find an empty rink. Steve was ada- mant they stay at the rink, while Alain rushed off to investi- gate. “Good news! They were opening up the rink again in the next few minutes,” Tanner says. “Woo hoo!” After a few laps around the rink, Tanner lost Steve in the crowd. She found a side to stand by, where she was joined by Alain and they proceeded to take, as Tanner describes it, “some very touristy skyline photos.” “Steve had very casually joined back up with us now, and Alain took the phone to take our picture as Steve dropped to one knee and pro- posed!” Tanner says. “Cue the shock!” She shares that while she suspected Steve had something up his sleeve, a proposal 14 Wyoming Weddings F E A T U R E
