Are You Ready for the Adventure?!
I
wear many hats in my crazy life – one of them is an obstetrical sonographer. I get to peek in
on future members of society, and I am honored to play a small role in the life of two people
who are undergoing a rapid transformation. As first-time parents leave my exam room, I
usually welcome them to the “adventure of parenthood” – and it’s my honor, in this hat that I cur-
rently wear, to welcome you all to the adventure of marriage.
Right now, you’re in the thick of planning a perfect wedding day – YOUR perfect wedding
day. The beautiful thing about modern weddings is they can be so unique! It’s just as appropriate
and stunning to be married in a wide open field with hay bales and surrounded by nature as it is
to be wed in one of Wyoming’s beautiful churches. How lucky are you?! What options you have to
create your own adventure-filled day!

While we put a lot of emphasis on your wedding in our guide (it is why we’re here, after all!),
remember that this day is the starting point in the game board that will become your married life.
Your entire game board is in front of you – how thrilling! When my husband Levi and I were married on August 12, 2000, we had been to-
gether for 9.5 years. We had a history, but our married future was unwritten. Who knew it would include two beautiful children, career twists
and turns, and my opportunity to be here today, writing this editor letter to you? Is it exciting to think of where you might be in 18 years?
My challenge to you is this: Remember the adventure. The adventure is a married life ahead of you with this amazing person, this person
with whom you’ve fallen in love. The adventure is seeing where the wind will take you. The adventure is the coming and going of people,
careers, homes, experiences. Maybe a family is in your future! Whatever the unique makeup of your life together, approach it as an adventure.
When life is rough, it’s a dip in the road to adventure. When life is soaring, soar and savor the exhilaration. It’s much easier said than done,
but it’s so important.
Approach your wedding planning with the same mindset. Will your dream flowers make those centerpieces crazy expensive? Find a good
alternative with your florist and smile because you saved some money. Do you really want that outdoor venue but fear a rain shower might
derail your dream? Make a beautiful Plan B and rest assured that no matter what, you will be married, and it will all be well because you
planned ahead. Take a breath on the days when something doesn’t go right. Take a picture when something wonderful happens in your plan-
ning process. Enjoy it! This is the adventure of a wedding – and the first step in the adventure of a marriage.
Welcome to the Adventure!
With Love,
Levi & Kati Hime
