Wyoming Weddings Bridal Guide 2018 | Page 5

Photo: Ardent Photo: Virginia Ruth Photography This is our 10th Edition of Wyoming Weddings Magazine! Photo: Ludwig Photography Photo: Ardent I have to put that standing out at the beginning, because this tenth edition really snuck up on me – I feel like we need to make a MUCH bigger deal than this, but in the hustle & bustle of putting this guide together for 2018 I totally forgot! Isn’t that the case, though, when you’re planning something?! Little details (or kinda big details!) can get lost in the shuffle. That makes this editor letter a great place to touch on that! Focusing on the end product – your Big Day – as you go through the months of planning and preparation is normal. That is, after all, why you’re doing all this! I encourage you to also take a moment to appreciate the process of planning. You may think I’m nuts for using the word ‘appreciate’ – I want you to observe the people around you, and let the moments sink in. The process creates so many memories that will become just as cherished as the day itself. I’ll always Levi and Kati Hime, Owners of remember when my dress came back from massive alterations due to an illness and subsequent Wyoming Weddings, LLC 40 pound weight loss I encountered while my dress was being made from scratch … the tears I shed when it was altered were far different than the tears I shed when that dress first arrived and hung from me like a guinea sack. I’ll always remember the trip to pick out our flowers, or the consultation with our photographer and the romantic jazz background music that she played. I’ll always remember when our invitations and napkins arrived. I have months and months of notes in my handmade planning binder (much of which was repurposed to make the planning pages in our magazine here), which is a treasured heirloom for me now. As parents and grandparents pass on, the memories of their part in your wedding will become priceless. These memories are part of the pro- cess – appreciate them, even the tough ones. Carry a small notebook around and write little jotted notes – funny stories or conversations, sad or frustrating things that happen, little joys. Don’t make it too hard – just jot a note and move on. Those memories will last a lifetime. I think on that planning process as I think on the process of getting to a tenth publication of Wyoming Weddings. I laugh at some of the things that have happened … I remember the frustrations … and the joys. I think I wish I had taken more notes (I need to follow my own advice!). I think on how many couples we’ve met over the years, and how many truly talented Wyoming wedding professionals we’re now blessed to call friends, more than just clients. This process has been a true blessing. May you have a blessed journey as you plan one of the biggest days of your life. Soak it all in – this is your time. Live in the moment and relish it.
