11 ALTAR ( THOMAS CHAUNDLER )
Desine luctus , Exue tanti Signa doloris , Indue vestes Murice tinctas , 5 Ac multis resonent tua Iam iam compita plausibus . Laetis tollito cantibus , Laudato precibus tuis Caelestem Deum tuum 10 Qui tibi reddit Nuper ab ista Urbem perfectam . Lumen in altis Quod tibi lucet 15 Versato tenebris , viam Ostendens placidam quae requiem petit Et vitae sacras quae tibi monstrat aquas . Plaudite iamdudum , visit Regina popellum . Rursus adest ; adsitque iterum , precor , et perenne vivat . 20
Cease your sorrows . Cast off the signs of such great pain . Put on purple-coloured clothes and now , now , let your crossroads resound with much applause . Extol in joyful song , praise in your prayers your heavenly God , who restores to you a city recently made perfect by our Queen . Turn the light which shines on you in deep darkness , showing the path which seeks tranquil rest and which shows you the sacred waters of life . Applaud at once ; the Queen visits her people . Once more she is here ; let her come again , I pray , and live for ever .
