Celebrating Our Success Celebrating Our Success A C A D E M I C , S P O RT I N G A N D A RT I S T I C A C H I E V E M E N T S 2 0 1 8 - 1 9 AC ADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS Royal Institute of Biology Olympiad (V1Bk1 and V1Bk2) Eight Gold Medals and Rob Truell (H, 2014-19) was selected to attend the UK team selection final for the International Olympiad.   Royal Institute of Biology Intermediate Olympiad (V1Bk2) Four gold medals.   Biology Challenge (MP) 46 MP boys won gold medal certificates. Senior Team Maths Challenge Nathan Chu (H, 2014-19), Reuel Armstrong (H, 2015-), Dhruv Nashier (Coll, 2015-) and Max Wong (F, 2015-) made up the Winchester team. They came 9th out of 1300 — possibly the school’s best ever performance. British Mathematical Olympiad Winchester had seven distinctions from the 1st round. Max Wong (F, 2015-) also got a distinction in the 2nd round, putting him in the top 25% of the 236 candidates. Cambridge Chemistry Challenge Carson White (Coll, 2016-), Max Wong (F, 2015-), Rtvik Patel (Coll, 2016-) and Adrian Tsui (B, 2015-) won Roentgenium awards, putting themselves in the top 56 of the 9,000 competitors. Debating Competition Luca Lombardo (Coll, 2015-) and Oliver Roberts (Coll, 2015-) reached the finals day of the Oxford Schools’ competition for young debaters while Brandon Chan (C, 2017-) and Caleb Kim (C, 2017-) reached the finals day of the International Cambridge Young Debaters. International Chemistry Olympiad Richard Danylyuk (Coll, 2014-19) was selected for the UK Team, and won the only gold medal for the UK Team coming 37th out of 309 competitors. The Win Coll team won the inaugural Philosothon with Vijay Pathak (A, 2017-) being declared the overall winner. Oxford Global Model United Nations Conference Our team of 12 received six awards at this conference which involved over 70 schools from 11 different countries. These awards included one for Vijay Pathak (A, 2017-) who was judged the best delegate. The Wykeham Journal 2019
