Message from Chief Executive

Tá an-áthas orm an réamhrá seo a scríobh do Nuachtlitir eile den scoth BOOPLLG.

I am very pleased to write this foreword for another excellent WWETB Newsletter.

The past six months has seen many significant developments as we embrace the fast moving world of education, training and youth services.

Please take time to read about the many significant and interesting developments taking place across all our schools and centres and the many great success stories that abound.

Since the last Newsletter, many of our students/learners will have graduated and moved on to further education, training or the workforce. Congratulations to all who achieved so well and it was, and continues to be, a pleasure to share in some of your success at the various graduation ceremonies across WWETB. Many students will continue to progress through further stages of the National Framework of Qualifications through Schools or Further Education and Training Centres and it is so important that we continue to provide and innovate to ensure the relevance of us as an organisation to our communities in this regard.

The official openings of Coláiste Abbáin, Adamstown and Enniscorthy Further Education Centre on 26th May by the Minister for Education and Skills, Mr. Richard Bruton TD, was a truly historic day with the full range of Post Primary, Further Education and Training being formally recognised in such a positive way. Congratulations to all who worked so hard to make that such a memorable day.

Another hugely significant achievement was the successful and separate applications for Music Generation by WWETB with our partners in Wexford County Council and Waterford City and County Council and many other dedicated and visionary supports who contributed so significantly (known as Music Education Partnerships). While WWETB will be the lead partner in rolling this programme out, recruiting tutors, developing instrument banks, etc the process of providing widespread, high quality, low cost music education to our young people will only be successful if we continue to ensure that the magnificent partnership that brought us this national success against many other Counties is built upon. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to achieve this. We are presently recruiting Music Generation Development Officers for each County to drive this project forward.
