Due to the Germany’s involvement in the war against Greece and due to Greece resistance, Operation Barbarossa was delayed. As the result the harsh Russian winter began and Hitler’s attempt to occupy the Soviet Union failed. So the final countdown to ultimate defeat started.
The importance of the Greek resistance in the history of WW2 and in the Allies’ struggle had already been recognized during the war and this is why Prime Minister of Glory Winston Churchill uttered the phase “Heroes fight like Greeks”
