Try a new crop in 2015 – Hazelnuts
A
relatively unknown nut crop for most West Virginians,
hazelnuts have the potential to thrive in many areas of
the state.
Why grow hazelnuts
The ability to grow on sloped
ground and tolerate cold winters,
make hazelnuts an ideal crop for
West Virginia.
As a food crop, hazelnuts (often
called filberts) have high energy and
protein value. They can be roasted
and eaten individually or used as
ingredients in items, such as
candy or syrups.
