PASSING LANES ON PRIMARY ROADS Farm Bureau commends the State Division of Highways for establishing passing lanes and straightening of curves on many long hills on primary roads, and recommends that this policy be continued. newly installed gas pipelines and utility lines placed on state road property be buried at a safe depth for maintaining the highway. RAILROAD CROSSINGS Because of the excessive number of accidents that occur at railroad crossings, Farm Bureau recommends all railroads be required to install a signal at each public crossing and maintain crossings in a smooth and safe condition. ROAD MAINTENANCE Farm Bureau recommends the West Virginia Division of Highways establish a preventive maintenance and corrective quality assurance programs for rural roads in West Virginia to insure the best roads at reasonable costs. We also recommend a larger share of highway funding
