For the most part , teams of employees from various LHM companies partner with a nonprofit or charity organization for pre-arranged work .
The tasks range from physical labor or landscaping work to filling kits for children or other at-risk individuals and families . It ’ s a day looked forward to all year , with employees taking pride in being able to serve in the communities where they work and live .
When the 2020 Day of Service was cancelled due to the health crisis , Gail Miller encouraged the LHM Group to honor the legacy of Larry H . Miller with a Year of Service . Employees responded , performing various acts of service throughout the year , doing good all over the Group .
The year of service was such a huge success that in 2021 , we decided to change the traditional day of service to create the first ever Week of Service . This allowed different business entities to find a service activity that better fit their schedule and allowed the communities where we do business to see us giving back .
The Week of Service will continue in the future , as the LHM Group and our employees strive to “ make communities better because we are there .”
