What is your best personal achievement until now ? I am proud to be part of the World Championship , because being from the Netherlands it is kind of tough to get here .
What got you into racing in the first place ? My father always raced with classic motorcycles , and because of that I always went to the tracks . I was crazy about it .

Would you rather watch a movie , read a book , go on YouTube ? Netflix , and sometimes a book , usually about business and things like that .
Did you , do you , have a ‘ real ’ job ? Yes , I got my diplomas for being a truck mechanic and I do that a few hours per week , beside my training regime . My father has a transport company so I work at the nearest garage to my home . When I don ’ t do that I work for my dad , driving trucks .
When are you most happy away from the race track ? Just when I am doing my own stuff , spending time with friends . It is good to spend some time away from racing but it needs to be a healthy 50 / 50 split . Now on the calendar we have some weeks away from racing , three or four weeks in between , which is quite a lot ?
Do you still have another role away from racing ? Nothing else at the moment , but I ' m planning to do something in the near future …
Where is your favourite place to be for a race weekend ? Portimao is always beautiful . It is just good to be there .
What was it like to be World Champion at such a young age ? How did it change things for you ? It also came as a surprise to me , even though I worked very hard for it . It has mainly changed me mentally by really believing in myself . And also by continuing to work hard !
Apart from home , where do you most like to be in the world ? For me , the Netherlands remains the best because everything is well organised here and is clean .
Who is your non-racing hero ? I don ' t really know , but since Valentino Rossi doesn ' t compete anymore , he is my hero .
What is your favourite kind of cuisine ? The food of my mother - Dutch food .
What is your most treasured possession ? My first bike that I was given on my fourth birthday .
You are still very young - but what would you like to do after racing ? I always want to stay involved in racing . But one day a good racing team would be great to have !

Wat is je beste prestatie tot nu toe ? Ik ben er trots op dat ik deel uitmaak van het wereldkampioenschap , want als Nederlander is het best lastig om hier te komen .
Hoe ben je in aanraking gekomen met de motorrace ? Mijn vader racete altijd met klassieke motoren en daardoor ging ik altijd mee naar de circuits . Ik was er gek op .

Kijk je liever een film , lees je liever een boek of zit je liever op YouTube ? Netflix , en soms een boek , meestal over de zakenwereld en wat daar nog bij komt kijken .
Had of heb je een ' echte ' baan ? Ja , ik heb mijn diploma ' s voor vrachtwagenmonteur gehaald en dat doe ik een paar uur per week , naast mijn trainingsregime . Mijn vader heeft een transportbedrijf dus ik werk bij de dichtstbijzijnde garage . Als ik dat niet doe , werk ik voor mijn vader , rijden met vrachtwagens .
Hoe was het om wereldkampioen te worden op zo ' n jonge leeftijd ? Hoe heeft het dingen voor jou veranderd ? Het kwam ook voor mij als een verrassing , ook al heb ik er heel hard voor gewerkt . Het heeft me vooral mentaal veranderd door echt in mezelf te geloven . En ook door hard te blijven werken !
Behalve thuis , waar ben je het liefst in de wereld ? Voor mij blijft Nederland het fijnste land , omdat alles hier goed geregeld is en schoon is .
Wanneer ben je het gelukkigst buiten het circuit ? Gewoon wanneer ik mijn eigen dingen doe , tijd doorbrengen met vrienden . Het is goed om wat tijd weg van het racen door te brengen , maar het moet een gezonde 50 / 50 verdeling zijn . We hebben nu een lange pauze gehad , met drie of vier weken ertussen en dat is nogal wat .
Wie is je niet-raceheld ? Ik weet het niet echt , maar sinds Valentino Rossi geen wedstrijden meer rijdt , is hij mijn held .
Wat is je favoriete eten ? Het eten van mijn moeder - Nederlands eten .
Wat is je favoriete plek voor een raceweekend ? Portimao is altijd mooi , het is gewoon goed om daar te zijn .
Wat is je meest dierbare bezit ? Mijn eerste motor , die ik kreeg op mijn vierde verjaardag .

Je bent nog erg jong , maar wat zou je willen doen na het racen ? Ik wil altijd betrokken blijven bij het racen . Maar ooit een eigen en goed raceteam hebben zou geweldig zijn !
