Gourmet Stream / Dr. John Bacher
Once upon a time
When our land
Was garbed in trees
The creeks of Niagara
Now muddy and impure
Were lined with food
For hunger’s cure
The mile creeks
That today flow
Into Lake Ontario
And more meandering
streams
With magic dreams
That once flowed
Into Niagara’s Gorge
Their wild rice garb
Is no more
Vanished from the
Clearing of the wild
Some with oaks
That soared so high
Ushers, Tee. Black and Kraft
Lyons, Chippawa all zapped,
No more to feed
Both ducks and man
Unless we become
Eco-protection fans!
