President Barack Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel (noh-BEL) Peace Prize. The Nobel Peace
Prize Committee announced the news from Oslo, Norway, on Friday. The Peace Prize Committee
said they chose President Obama for this honor because of his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen
international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."
