To work together as a team to respect opinions and views of others while appreciating and discussing quality literature as well as the power of unity among women. We meet once a month, on the 4th Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., to discuss the monthly book selection, bond and fellowship with one another! Meetings can be held at a member's home, coffee shops, bookstores or restaurants. In addition to our book club meetings, we will participate in volunteer events to advocate literacy in our community! SMM plans to host their first annual Women Empowerment Conference in 2016 . SMM was established in November 2009 by Bobbi Ramey. Our first official book club meeting took place on January 16, 2010. Bobbi Ramey is an avid inspirational reader. The idea was to bring together a diverse group of women who enjoy reading and to bond spiritually. She asked her family and friends if they would be interested in joining and the rest is history! SMM was born! SMM enlightens your mind through the power, spirit, soul of sisterhood, and reading. We want to address every aspect of a women's world, physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. SMM is a small African American book club and social organization for positive, spiritual women who enjoy reading! Our book selections will fluctuate to include non-fiction, fiction, inspirational, romance and a wide variety of other topics chosen by our members. Writers World Newspaper, VOL. IX Sistah Minds In Motions (SMM) is a group of women with diverse backgrounds located in the surrounding areas of the greater Atlanta area. SMM stemmed from a vision of desiring to bond resilient AfricanAmerican women in cultivating friendships, encountering new and unique experiences, social gatherings, networking, taking part in community events and the overall encouragement of each member. We are women that are married, single, employed, in school, educators, working moms, stay-at-home moms, and women from all walks of life. We chose to come together to share wisdom, advice, opportunities and discuss the ripples of day to day issues in life. We want to address every aspect of a women's world, physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. Our vision is to value and live in a manner that shows leadership and respect for all living What inspired you to want to have a Book Club? I wanted to address every aspect of a women's world, physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. My idea was to bring together a diverse group of women who enjoy reading and to bond spiritually. How did you start getting people to be apart of the book club? I started by asking family and friends if they would be interested in joining and the rest is history. Tell us about how it is being the President of the Book Club? As a book club president I enjoy seeing members coming together to promote new authors also supporting one another .I wanted to bring together a diverse group of women who enjoy reading and to bond spiritually. Why was the name Sistah Minds in Motions Book-club was chosen?
