CREATING REALISTIC SETTINGS (CONT’D)
A philanthropist [now deceased] whose legacy continues to benefit
the community
A con man
A retired major league baseball player, now coaching the Hornets
triple A team
It is clear when imaginative people come together, any number of wonderful
things can happen, including the creation of interesting, fascinating,
unforgettable settings.
ABOUT VERONICA LYNCH:
July 2004, at the RWA conference, in the middle of a crowded bar,
nurse/victim advocate/and malpractice investigator Veronica Lynch was handed
her first published novel. The experience, similar to holding her first-born child
in her arms, remains with her to this day. She uses the years spent maneuvering
the twists and turns of Rejection Road to teach new, and not so new, authors as
examples of what to do and not do, who to listen, and not listen to, in order to
hold that new baby in their arms.
EDITOR’S COMMENT: This article should be very helpful when it comes to
creating a reality that only exists in the author’s mind. Notice how much detail is
included which gives the fictional location the 3D feeling of a place that really
exists.
