Morgan’s Corner (Cont’d)
going to have surgery for an ACL injury to his left rear leg today. His cruciate ligament is completely
torn and has to be repaired with a plate and implant. His full recovery will take about three months,
and he will be stationed in his crate or under my desk on restricted activity for the first few weeks, ever
alert for good articles, editing corrections and special treats. Not much different than a human
recovering from restorative surgery.
On my publishing front, the latest Silver Sisters Mystery, Diamonds in the Dumpster, is now
available in both Kindle and paperback. My co-author/sister Phyllice Bradner and I are already
beginning to plot the next one with the working title of Bones in the Belfrey. It will take the twins to
Portland, Oregon with all the zany antics the Silver family is known for as they solve yet another
mystery.
The amazing life story of Cheryl Pierson Cuccio and Rob Cuccio, Incest, Murder and a Miracle, is
targeted for a mid-December release with preorders beginning in late October. That will coincide with
an upcoming article in a major national magazine, followed by Cheryl’s episode on Discovery ID channel
in January 2017. The magazine article will be the first interview Cheryl has given in thirty years since
her name was all over the media. The survivor I know today is nothing like the victim she was for so
much of her young life. And speaking of survivors, how many people do you know who were revived 43
minutes after dying? Rob’s story and Cheryl’s courage in helping to save him will grab your heart-literally. During the year we have been writing the book, I never cease to be impressed by their courage
in taking what life handed them. Now their book will be able to inspire and help others. Exciting times!
The next Painted Stories event presented by Writers of Southern Nevada and sponsored by Clark
County Library will be on October 23 in Clark County Library’s Jewel Box Theater. The wonderfully
successful July 31 event was so well attended, it exceeded the room’s capacity. Click for details, and if
you are in Las Vegas and plan to attend, I suggest getting there early to guarantee a seat.
As usual, this issue is packed with helpful articles about the craft and business of writing,
conference listings, industry news, a book review and an entertaining Life Story feature by journalist
and speaker, Diane Taylor.
Keep writing!
