The first edition of Writers’ Tricks of the
Trade: 39 Things You Need to Know About the
ABCs of Writing was published in 2011. This
is the 4 th Edition available in paperback,
Kindle and eBook, updated once again due to
our rapidly changing industry. It was time for
several things that were current in 2011
when it was originally published, and then in

with three already scheduled for 2020 at
Clark County Library.
handy reference for both technique and

workshops—in plain language, some humor,
personal experiences that worked or didn’t
and so much more. Every chapter has
something you can use right away.
One of the first things you might notice is
the new cover design, thanks to a suggestion
from our marketing guru Carolyn Howard-
Johnson, author of the “frugal” series. She
rather than clipart. Following through with
that concept, the cover of the Writers’ Tricks
of the Trade book and blog also feature my
