A NEW DIGITAL PARTNERSHIP
KOBO AND FLIPKART
The expansion of Kakuten Kobo Inc., or Kobo as we know it, was
confirmed in mid December.
Kobo, a global leader in eReading, is now working closely with Flipkart,
India’s leading e-commerce marketplace. They will be transferring Flipkart’s
eReading App customers to the Kobo platform.
What that means is readers in India will be able to choose from more than
3.7 million Kobo titles—including the most popular bestsellers, literary
works, non-fiction, comics, and graphic novels. The new arrangement will
enable them to use Kobo’s apps for Windows, Android, Blackberry, and iOS,
thus expanding their literary capabilities.

Flipkart is India’s most trusted website and offers a wide range of
products including electronics, books, clothes, accessories, home furnishing
and more. They stopped selling eBooks on December 10, 2015 so that Kobo
and Flipkart can work together to ensure a smooth transition of users’
libraries to the Kobo platform.
On December 17, Flipkart sent each user a unique link and details on how
to access their new library with Kobo. Customers will be able to access their
existing Flipkart library until February 28, 2016.
“Flipkart has brought together some of India’s most passionate readers.
Rakuten Kobo is pleased to introduce them to our store of millions of books
across all genres so they can keep reading digitally,” said Michael Tamblyn,
President, Rakuten Kobo.
“Together with Flipkart, we will ensure that people continue to read on
any device with no interruptions, with the only thing to consider being what
great book to read next.”
