Welcome to the digital edition of Writer’ s Block. This extended version of the magazine offers you fulllength articles, additional content, image galleries and video footage not available in our printed output. Hopefully you find something to inspire your own work from amongst the collection of artists, initiatives and events we have put together. It is my opinion that‘ writer’ s block’ does not only belong to authors, it is an affliction of all creative people at one point or another. It is that frustrating lack of fresh ideas, when it feels as though your brain has become stagnant. Of course there are numerous courses, I think it is important to consider the media we expose ourselves to as an important, though perhaps unwitting, influence upon our creativity. Today we are endlessly confronted to products of mass culture, many of which, unfortunately suffer from an element of the lowest common denominator it terms of their artistic quality. We have selected a collection of innovative and unconventional creative works to break this cycle of over exposure. The issue takes its cover image from Oscar Sancho Nin, one of the artists featured on New Blood Art. An online venture established to give art students a helping hand, offering them a platform to finance their studies which makes the most of their talents. There is more on Sancho Nin and his peers on page 6. Read interviews from John Forrest, Gill Wright and our‘ Student in the Stoplight’ Hannah Freier. John is the Director and Founder of‘ Insight’ film festival, after spending years making religious programming for the BBC John decided it was time the film industry opened up a debate surrounding religious faith in modern society.‘ Insight’ offers a platform for filmic pieces with a religious theme, make sure you watch last year’ s‘ Best in Festival’ on page 16 to get a flavour of what the event has to offer. Gill Wright updates us on the restoration of Victoria Baths, and all the venue has to offer to the arts; whilst Hannah discusses the merits of her degree and her directorial aspirations. Our digital edition is packed with extras, I hope you enjoy reading it!
