“ I ’ m the worst film director , the biggest amateur and a brilliant failure .” - Fabrizio Federico
‘ Black Biscuit ’ is the directorial debut of Fabrizio Federico . The amateur filmmaker had no experience , no funding , and no script ; but decided not to let these small matters hold him back in creating a full-length feature .
‘ Black Biscuit ’ loosely follows the adventures of Chet , played by Federico . Out of work and penniless , Chet begins working as a male escort to fund his dream of filmmaking . Federico is fervently anti convention . His film was shot using mobile phones and toy children ’ s cameras . Instead of actors , he uses ‘ street super stars ’ the homeless , prostitutes , people with disabilities , and captures them without a script , in unstructured scenes .
The narrative is erratic at best , and the nature of the technology used means most of the footage is of poor quality . Though Federico would have you believe this is the best kind of filmmaking .
