Set in early 20 th century Corsica and on the Western Front during World War I, The House at Zaronza is loosely inspired by a true tale. It tells the story of Maria Orsini, the daughter of a bourgeois family in a Corsican village. A new schoolmaster comes to the village and they carry on a secret romance, but Maria’ s family has other ideas for her future. She becomes a volunteer nurse during World War I and the novel follows her fortunes through the war and beyond. The House at Zaronza was judged in the top four in the Flash 500 Novel Opening Competition in 2013 and is published by Crooked Cat Publishing. Available in paperback and e-book editions from Amazon.
