WRITERS ABROAD MAGAZINE Writers Abroad Member Spotlight Featuring John Eliot I came from a family of readers. Books were to be loved. And not that it necessarily mattered the books were of quality. My brother and sister were a few years older than me, so I was introduced to Camus and the War Poets at quite a young age, very early teens. I realised that I wanted to be a writer when I was nine. A student teacher got my class to produce a newspaper which was displayed along the school corridor. I loved the attention that writing brought. I then produced my own newspaper at home for the family, for quite a few weeks. What a precocious child. I always was creative from then on, art, music (unsuccessfully), poetry, stories, plays...
