P o c k e t W at c h e s Urwerk Urwerk’s UR-1001 Zeit Device Uber Complication leaves classicism and tradition behind in favor of an ultra modern take on timekeeping. In the truest ethos of its nature, the UR-1001 actually quantifies the span of an era in its entirety - from fleeting seconds to the entire millennia. Carved from solid metal & titanium, the UR-1001 displays the passage of time in seconds, minutes and hours and adds to that indications for day/night, date, month, years, 100-year cycles and unbelievably even 1,000 years! It also has a separate gauge to mark the time until the next “oil change”, or more accurately the scheduled service interval. In the fashion of its predecessors, The Zeit Device uses rotating cones to mark the hours, although in this version the revolving hour satellites are paired with an instantaneous retrograde minute pointer. Modern materials like Arcap corrosion-resistant alloys within and AlTiN (Aluminum,Titanium, Nitrogen) coatings without are a perfect match to the Urwerk futuristic designs from founders Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner. 58 Wristwatch | 2016
