BASEL When is a complication really not a complication? Depends who you ask. Some argue that unless you add information (moonphase, chronograph, date, etc.) then a complication it is not. I’m on the other side of the coin and will openly call certain feats of engineering a “complication.” Whether tourbillon or remontoire, fusee’ or unique display, I’m of the mind that when something so miniature and amazing is, by definition “complicated”, then it has earned the right to be called as such. Here’s a quick look at some standouts from the spring releases that fall under the WristWatch definition of “complication”. 2 1 1. MAGNETICALLY SUSPENDED SPHERES ACCURATELY DISPLAY THE HOURS AND MINUTES ON THE NEW DAMASCUS GARBED X-TREM-1 TOURBILLON BY CHRISTOPHE CLARET. 2. BREGUET TRADITION MINUTE REPEATER TOURBILLON APPLIES MODERN SCIENCE IN ACOUSTICS TO ACHIEVE CRYSTAL CLARITY OF THE CHIMING TONE, WITH ALMOST NO INTERFERENCE FROM THE REGULATING MECHANISM. 74 WRISTWATCH | 2016
