b BOUTIQUE IT’S COMPLICATED The first timepiece in master-watchmaker Emmanuel Bouchet’s very own collection, the Complication One, represents a subtle blend of architecture, technical sophistication, fine craftsmanship and an avant-garde vision of time. The 44mm case houses the hand-wound caliber EB-1963, made in Switzerland and composed of 283 parts. Positioned at center stage, the double escape wheel with inward teeth and the anchor offer a striking indication of the passage of time. The dynamic, multi-level dial is composed of sapphire discs that seem to float in space over a white or black onyx dial base. Hours are displayed at 8 o’clock while minutes and ten-minutes are indicated at 4 o’clock by two jumping retrograde hands. A contemporary day-night indicator is displayed at 12 o’clock and is positioned on a disc underneath the seconds disc. Double barrels guarantee a 72-hour power reserve, indicated on the caseback. Retail prices range from $98,000 in titanium to $108,000 in rose or white gold and $128,000 in platinum. 36 WRISTWATCH | 2016
