b BOUTIQUE AVANT-GARDE Known for its unconventional and “out of the box” creations, IceLink recently introduced the Zermatt Gold VII, a 12-piece limited edition featuring a dial that pushes the boundaries of traditional watch design. Inspired by the famous Six Degrees of Separation theory, the black metallic dial features six functioning zones – five displaying the hour and minutes of New York, London, Hong Kong, Dubai, home zone, and one with the IceLink logo and rotating seconds. The innovative rectangular mechanical movement, ILLM1, powers all six zones (cities and seconds) simultaneously. In typical IceLink fashion, the watch boasts 190 grams of 18-karat gold on the case, while the buckle mirrors the shape of the iconic case and has approximately 15 grams of gold. The suggested retail price is $97,500. LIMITED EDITION With its eye-catching design and use of innovative technology, the new UR-105 T-Rex from URWERK is sure to make a bold statement on any wrist. Mirroring the path of the sun from its rising to its setting, a single hours pointer travels from east to west on the dial, creating a universal yet minimalist depiction of time. Housed in a textured pebble-shaped case, the satellite hours wander along their 60-minute journey, protected by a bronze suit of armor. Nicknamed after its unusual case that is crisscrossed by a raised, concentrically ribbed pattern evoking the scales of certain reptiles, the watch features a textu red, bark-like coating that is soft to the touch and whose colors will subtly evolve over the years. In true URWERK fashion, four satellites, each bearing three hour numerals, parade past the minute rail. A PEEK (polyetheretherketone) cover with guilloche pattern conceals the satellites not needed for the current time read-off. The caseback reveals the turbines that regulate the winding of the UR-105 T-Rex and are adjusted by means of a lever. In the “Full” position, even the slightest movement is leveraged to help wind up the mainspring. In “Stop” mode, the winding system is disabled and the watch can thus be hand-wound if required via the crown. A third intermediate “Red” (for Reduced) moderates the winding so as to avoid excessive tension on the mainspring. Produced in a limited edition of just 22 pieces. 28 WRISTWATCH | 2016
