T he National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc., is the largest horological collectors association in the world today, with more than 14,000 active members. Founded in 1943, the NAWCC is a nonprofit scientific organization that serves as a unique educational, cultural, and social resource for its membership and the public at large. There are many ways to participate in the NAWCC: attend events, access online resources, go to chapter meetings, explore our world-class library facilities, and make connections and build friendships among the membership. That membership is widely diverse, and includes more than 170 interactive chapters organized geographically and according to specific areas of interest. Those chapters offer opportunities for learning and a venue to meet people eager to buy and sell collectible timepieces from all over the world. In addition, the NAWCC maintains a busy in-house Publications Department, which creates and distributes multiple literary resources for its members and the public, including its bi-monthly Watch & Clock Bulletin, a peer-reviewed journal consisting of abundantly illustrated articles on historic, artistic, and technical aspects of timekeeping; concise reviews of horological books; members’ opinions and comments; research findings and requests; plus general timekeeping news and announcements of chapter, regional, and national NAWCC activities. The Mart & Highlights, a dedicated trade supplement included with every Watch & Clock Bulletin, is packed with business information; advertisements; auction info; trade news and reviews; and classified ads intended to aid and inform members in their horological pursuits. The NAWCC offers its members access to a complete archive of its periodicals online, dating back to the mid-1940s. 2016 | WRISTWATCH 115
