TRIBUTES TO KELLY
I’d never met Kelly before. Our paths crossed like many of ours did in the online Michael Jackson community- a liked comment here, an encouraging word there- yet, I
felt I knew her through her tireless dedication to What’s Really Going On magazine.
Her comments and posts were always upbeat and positive, never judgmental or
crass.
The one and only direct dealing I had with Kelly was on my birthday about a month
ago. I’d received birthday wishes from friends near and far, but about halfway through
the day, a gorgeous picture of a pink pixie fairy popped up in my timeline. In glittery
letters, it said “Happy Birthday Kay!”
I was familiar with Kelly’s work through the magazine and instantly knew her work
when I saw it. I thanked her and told her the picture was beautiful (which it was), she
responded with a smiley face and that was that.
It touched me that this woman with whom I’d had limited dealings over the past couple
of years, thought enough to create a piece of artwork specially for me. To me, Kelly
was a comet of kindness streaking across the sky and I was just one of the lucky few
to witnessed her brilliance.
As my heart goes out to Kelly’s family and friends, I’d like them to know that their
mother/ sister/ friend meant so much to many. May God bless you and keep you in
your time of grief.
Kay
