H ave you ever stopped to wonder what is it that we love so much about these lovely little desserts? The prettiness factor is definitely one of the reasons. It’s hard to resist a dessert that’s pretty and delicious. It could be a basic swirl of frosting or a more intricate design, but the mere fact that cupcakes are beautifully decorated is one reason we love them. You don’t walk around town and find a cupcake shop at every corner, but in Downtown West Palm Beach there’s a small shop that loves the creativity fostered by frosting — from gussied-up buttercreams in wild colors and flavors, to light and airy meringues and chocolate ganache. The place is like a cupcake itself! Café Sweets Bakery is a unique blend of a traditional Southern-style bakery. They put a sweet touch of Southern hospitality baked with love into every dessert they serve!  The bakery was originally at 505 Clematis street in 2011, they grew and expanded. Now they have moved to a new location on 410 Evernia Street and also have another shop at 519 25th street in our Bohemian Northwood Village. For a long time they have been feeding many sweet-tooth desires as well as special occasions! Café Sweets has been family-owned and operated by three generations in the making. It all started with Grandma Emma’s made-from-scratch-dessert delights following ideas like many Southern family traditions. She passed down her delectable recipes to a next generation, Ms. Cora who then turned over the family secrets of Southern-style baking to her daughter, Ms. Sharlyn Davis-Powery. Ms. Sharlyn trained at the Art Institute of New York City as a Pastry Chef. She has become a recognized Pastry Chef who is creating a large variety of mouthwatering desserts: flavored cupcakes such as our most popular red velvet, banana pudding, coconut, vanilla, vanilla sprinkle, chocolate, and more specialized flavors like strawberry, pineapple or raspberry cheesecake, coconut-lime, smores, and pina coloda, just to name a few. And not only cupcakes, but traditional and custom-made cakes, delicious pies, cookies, croissants, and breakfast sandwiches. If you love cupcakes and walk along Evernia Street or happen to become a regular commuter when the new Bightline station officially starts operating and don’t stop by Café Sweets, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Their small, cute, bright and delicious, cupcakes will only do one thing: they’ll make you happy!
