The special 999 event was a way of saying thank you to the police, fire and rescue and ambulance services and those in the NHS for all their hard work in keeping local communities safe. On offer were a free bingo session, free drinks and a chance to unwind from their demanding jobs. The event was coordinated by Neil Tams, Mecca Beeston general manager, who said: “We recognise what a fantastic job these people do for our community. Many of them put their lives at risk for us on a daily basis and this was our way of saying thank you.” Team member James Jamieson single-handedly pulled four slot machines to safety. . . .
