than I can count. [WM] I understand that one of the campus highlights is a monthly, Sunday evening concert for students, featuring well-respected names from Christian music. What can you tell us about these events? [Brad] Once a month we host “A list” artists for our UChurch concert series. In the past year we have hosted Tauren Wells, The Belonging CO., For King and Country and Phil Wickham. These concerts are free and open to the community as well. [WM] As an educator myself, I love the implementation of a “capstone course” within your music department. This is something not often found in many music-related university programs. Tell us about the course, it’s expectations, and its objectives? [Brad] In simple terms, this course is designed to bring senior music majors from all the disciplines in the School of Music together to discuss important issues that face all professional musicians. Our core values include the ideas that all professional musicians are responsible for music education, all professional musicians should be advocates for all the arts, and that our music serves our audiences. In addition to addressing these important issues, the students put them into practice developing hands on service-learning projects. The current seniors are developing plans for the School of Music to host a community arts fair where music, dance, dramatic arts and visual arts will be on display for the Cleveland community. In addition to Lee University groups performing, the hope is public school groups and some individuals will also be part of the fair.
