ministries need a smaller body guitar. This
Breedlove model had the stage in mind with
the guitars playability, pick-up system and
drop dead gorgeous looks. From going back
and forth to worship team rehearsals, home
group meetings, women and men’s weekend
meetings or retreats, prison services or even
songwriting retreats… having a quality “kick
around” guitar makes a big difference.
Don’t let the size fool you… this Companion
models have a big voice and resonate well.
Breedlove’s design team allows this new body
shape to be purposely built to deliver the
characteristic Breedlove sound… in a small
travel-ready body shape.
Plugged in you have the L.R. Baggs’ EAS
electronics (good stuff!) with an easily accessible
soundhole volume control.
The fretwork is excellent. The neck has a slimmer
neck profile, which enables comfortable play,
even with smaller hands. The nut width is 1.69”
and you’ll like the feel of the aforementioned
Ebony fretboard when you are playing. Even
though the Companion has a smaller body size
it is built for standard E-E tuning.
The high gloss finish is applied well and
the color is really pretty. Myrtlewood
is grown along the Pacific Coast in
Oregon which makes sense as the
fine folks from Breedlove Guitars are
from Bend, OR.
A personal word why I like smaller
body guitars. The string tension
is less than that on a full-size
dreadnought guitar. So, if you
jump back and forth from
up to the 19 th fret. Try that on your dreadnought
at home.
