OK, let’ s clear the air right out of the gate. This Spark PEDAL is a game-changer for me personally and it may very well be the same for you. And at a price that is unbelievable.
We signed an NDA with our friends at Positive Grid so we could have this unit in hand well before the release date. What is the Spark PEDAL? Here is Positive Grid’ s description …“ a compact amp and effects pedal that also adds a built-in looper and smart tone creation. Designed for electric, bass and acoustic players, it incorporates into any setup for fast, intuitive tone building with no learning curve.” I agree with all of that except I had a little bit of a learning curve with the Looper section. But that is what I get for jumping in without reading any directions or watching the demo video. Ha! Now I believe the Looper is exceptional as you get 60 seconds of time for each pass and via the interactive free app you can bring in drums to play along with. Love it! Record, overdub and undo loops without having to navigate menus during a looping session.
Plus, their claim of using it in a wide range of playing scenarios is accurate too. Use it with your existing pedalboard to bring a full amp and effects rig into your current setup; connect directly to a PA system for a streamlined full rig setup; or use it as an audio interface for desktop recording. That is versatile and the way each aspect of it dials in by either hand or foot is remarkable. I can throw this light weight and small in stature pedal into my gig bag and leave my pedal board at home.
