the walls for the rest of us. Their songwriting was a mix of evangelism, worship, and social commentary. Their musicianship was excellent, and their vocal prowess was reminiscent of The Beach Boys and The Beatles. Quite a one-two punch for any of those fortunate enough to be in the listening audience or congregation. And again, as a musician, I was also amazed at how good they could sound at a low volume when necessary. It was another model for all of us.
Songs like“ Little Country Church”,“ Let Us Be One”,“ Welcome Back”,“ Sometimes Alleluia”, and of course John’ s drum solos, imprinted Jesus upon the hearts and minds of many thousands worldwide.
And now, after 8 years, The LoveSong Documentary is being released. It’ s an incredible resource for all Christian musicians, and pastors, to watch. It’ s filled with perspective and the history of what really happened during the Jesus Movement of the late 60s and early 70s, and it chronicles the legacy of LoveSong and its members. Do not miss this one. I urge you to watch it. It will be streaming on Prime beginning September 19, 2025.
In an era of unprecedented cultural confusion and division, and one in which people, like Pontius Pilate, are asking themselves,“ What is truth?”. My prayer is that viewers will see truth in action watching this documentary series, A Band Called LoveSong: The Music and Movement of the Jesus Revolution. You owe it to yourself to watch this one.
