something like that. I need to be able to have something that I’ m not touch-screening around. So that’ s normally a distinction that I’ ll make if I have everything. If I have all three, it’ s normally if I am using something and I need consistent control throughout a service or show. I’ ll try to make it work particularly on the console before hopping over to a Waves setup.
The cool thing about these desks is the gap is closing between the less conventional plugins and they’ re being included now, like inside of this [ dLive ]. For instance, I know when [ Allen & Heath ] came out with the RackUltra FX, there was vocal tuning on here. Now there’ s amp simulation, there’ s the Dual Harmonizer, there’ s all the Saturation. That was a big thing for me. So, there’ s all these things now that we’ re not so much essentially included on a lot of consoles. So I was using Waves. I know you guys added a while back when Dyn8 came on here. Now I have my [ Waves ] F6-flavor on my desk, etc.
I think the gap’ s closing there for sure, and it’ s just what everyone’ s used to. I have my tried and true over decades of signal chains that I’ ve built in Waves or an analog [ hardware unit ] that I like. I know what they do, but it’ s been cool, especially this summer, really diving into the RackUltra FX on this desk and especially some of the new reverbs and just hearing things. We’ ve gone to another level and now that line is being blurred from a plug-in server, to what can be … what is … what can happen in a live environment on a desk. I think that is a unique offering to the dLive ecosystem that even some of the other top-tier consoles aren’ t even quite up to that par yet.
