were the genesis for pop and rock Christian bands, forming the beginnings of CCM along with a handful of additional pioneers( Larry Norman, Randy Stonehill, Andrae Crouch, Phil Keaggy, Nancy Honeytree, Agape, Randy Matthews, Barry McGuire, 2 nd Chapter of Acts, Malcolm and Alwyn, Paul Clark, and others).
We recently lost Chuck Girard following his brave battle with cancer. Attending his memorial service, I can honestly say it was a true reunion this side of Heaven, with so many founders of CCM, and it was filled with tears, hugs, and true Christian fellowship. It was incredibly moving.
Chuck was part of Brian Mason’ s CCM Old Dudes monthly prayer and luncheon. In February of this year, Chuck gave me a copy of his new CD, Moonlight Serenade, at that luncheon. I was astounded upon hearing it and have included the song,“ Drifting” here for your listening. Chuck recorded this project at 81 years of age! When Chuck asked me how I liked his new CD I told him,“ I can’ t get past the first song.
