All of these updates are great but how does the Katana-50 Gen 3 combo sound plugged in ? For testing purposes , I played a Ciari Ascender Standard electric guitar with dual Seymour Duncan 59 pickups . Right out of the box the new PUSHED amplifier model is far and away my favorite . Playing with the neck or bridge pickup it delivered nice grit and drive , but not over the top . You still had clarity of notes inside the chords and soloing .
The power control going from 50W , 25W and 0.5W is such a blessing when you live close to neighbors as many of us do . The controls on the Katana-50 Gen 3 combo are straightforward and intuitive . Dialing in the BOSS effects , which I am a fan of , was easy but I believe it is worth the extra money to purchase the Bluetooth adapter to engage the App . The foot controller would also be helpful selecting the memory back sounds on the fly . As I was practicing for an upcoming gig with this amp , I would have no issues taking the BOSS Katana-50 Gen 3 to Praise team or any other church music function for guitar amplification .
This amp is priced at $ 299.99 which is a deal considering it delivers 6-amp models , 60 BOSS effects , variable wattage with a 12-inch speaker in a lightweight package . BOSS kept the best of the past and added the new features for today . Even a tube amplifier dinosaur like me can ’ t deny the options , convenience and tonal variations of this new Katana-50 Gen 3 combo . Nice job BOSS .
