While fuzz may not be prevalent in Worship music , it was the first drive pedal for guitar . Used by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Keith Richards to craft some of the most iconic guitar sounds and riffs . As it relates to your pedal board , one of the areas fuzz pedals excel most is on the sweet singing sustain they can produce , which in combination with delay and reverb can create wonderfully ethereal tones .
SoloDallas is best known for their Schaffer Replica ‘ tower ’ and stomp boxes which capture the essence of the famed Schaffer wireless circuit used and loved by the likes of Eddie Van Halen and AC / DC . To this day , the EX Tower is fundamental part of Angus Young ’ s iconic guitar sound , and the various Schaffer Replica devices ( towers and / or stomps ) have been used and loved by the likes of John Mayer and Metallica , both of whom are known for their iconic guitar sounds . In the worship side of things , Bethel and Hillsong , both rely heavily on Solo Dallas ’ sounds . Michael Guy Chislette has used The EX Tower on every Hillsong album since 2019 and The EX Tower , Storm and Bass-X are all essential to the guitar and bass tones heard on
Bethel ’ s album Come Up Here .
I got my hands on an Orbiter prototype when I was doing a demo video for the SoloDallas Storm pedal . The below clips will enable you to hear the sweet goodness this pedal delivers . Yes , it can ‘ sputter ’ like my vintage Fuzz Face , but where the Orbiter really shines for me is on the sweet , singing sustain it delivers .
The trio of controls are straightforward , but I do have some suggestions on how to dial things in . Adjust the Fuzz control to set the amount of effect . Of note , at the very top of the range the pedal adds a bit of a treble boost which can be helpful when adding a little something on
