SOUND CHECK
KEEPING OUR HANDS TO THE PLOW …
Well , September has arrived , and a new fall season is upon us . With that comes planning for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday ’ s celebration services .
I always tell our pro audio company advertisers that two distinct things happen in the fall when it comes to modern worship churches ... One , they look at what their needs are to produce those important upcoming holiday services . New instruments needed ? A better set of digital drums ? Pro Audio gear enhanced ? Lighting upgrades ? And two , this time of year is when you start looking ahead so you can put together a budget request for the new 2025 calendar year for the worship and tech teams . Those same questions may be asked … new instruments needed ? A better set of digital drums ? Pro Audio gear enhanced ? Lighting upgrades ? With those considerations comes research and seeking of counsel so you can plan and most likely spend with wisdom prevailing .
Here at [ WM ] Worship Musician , we have a lot of extra planning this fall on our plate too , as we have the Christian Musician Summit conference back in Tacoma , WA November 8-9 . This is a training conference for the entire worship and tech teams that we have been producing for over 20 years now .
And then on top of that , we will publish in late November our next Worship Guitar Player BUYER ’ S GUIDE . Being guitar nerds ourselves , this is always a lot of fun to do even though it is another layer of work to accomplish .
So how will you and I tackle this somewhat demanding upcoming season ? I think of all the times in the scriptures that we are exhorted to “ be strong and courageous ”. Don ’ t hesitate to
gird yourself up and be prepared . Ask the Holy Spirit to help you . The scriptures are replete with encouraging words for us . How about , “ Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you ”. That sounds like help from on-high to me .
Here ’ s a good one about placing your trust in the Lord and preparing too … “ Let not your heart be troubled ; you believe in God , believe also in Me . In My Father ’ s house are many mansions ; if it were not so , I would have told you . I go to prepare a place for you .” John 14:1
Wow – God ’ s Word is amazing . Keep your hand to the plow , and don ’ t look to the left or the right . Plow forward …
Lord Bless You as You Follow Him !
