Along with the new ODD Box v1 Overdrive pedal , Warm Audio also released the Mutation Phasor II pedal . The original Mutron Phasor was born in the ‘ 70s from Musitronics . With its unique sound , the pedal was immediately snatched up by some top artists like Stevie Wonder ( Superstition ), George Duke , Jerry Garcia , and Andy Summers , among many others . It became a staple in R & B and Funk , adding depth and rhythm to whatever you ran through it . You could hear it on guitars of course , but also on bass , Fender Rhodes , and Wurlitzers . The sound is immediately recognizable , and Warm Audio has done a fine job bringing it back to a new generation .
OUT OF THE BOX : Mutation Phasor II comes in a well-protected box with feet already attached and a quick start guide . It weighs in at 1.6 Lbs . Its hefty aluminum case will definitely withstand road use . I ’ ve read that the original was designed to withstand a drop from a roof . On top are three knobs Rate , Depth , and Feedback . These are the essential controls for any Phasor . The footswitch has a red LED indicator with a buffered Bypass .
Warm Audio stayed faithful to the multi-color scheme on top . On the back are In and Out with a BOSS Type 9vDC Jack .
You ’ ll find an Alkaline 9V inside the pedal that you might want to remove via eight small screws to keep things simple and no surprises later on . Upon opening the pedal , however , you will find it well-designed and solid .
Inside , you ’ ll also notice the high-quality components , Including RC4558P Op-Amps , various vintage-style diodes , hand-selected film capacitors , and carbon resistors .
IN USE : I love the sound of a Phasor done right , and the Mutation Phasor II delivers .
