The story of James Tyler Guitars is quite impressive . It is a testament to sticking with your passion for so long that you keep building “ stone upon stone ” until quite a monument is built … quite a few top-notch session guitar and touring artists world-wide are taking advantage of your guitar making and set-up prowess and quite a few industry people recognize the contributions you have made to the luthier community .
Avid readers of [ WM ] will remember our interview with James Tyler himself and our feature on Rich Renken ( General Manager of James Tyler Guitars and longtime friend of our magazine ).
Today , what we have in front of us to review is the Dann Huff Yellow Classic Signature model . Now signature guitar models go back to the days of vaudeville and Roy Smeck in the 1920 ’ s . He played banjo , guitar and uke . He would play the ukulele with his teeth , he would play it behind his back , or even use a violin bow . Funny how there is nothing new under the sun ? The Harmony company made several different signature models with Roy ’ s name on them . I am not sure how much input Roy had into those instruments . But the best kind of signature collaboration is when the guitarist has significant insights from playing live and recording sessions and the guitar company listens to that guitarist and then implements those elements into the signature guitar model itself .

Silver Sky . Well , before both of those excellent electric guitar players , was Los Angeles session ace , songwriter , vocalist , and touring artist Dann Huff . Dann ’ s recording credits as a guitarist alone would fill this entire product review ( Michael Jackson , Amy Grant , Whitesnake , Michael W . Smith , Whitney Houston , Stephen Curtis Chapman , Whitecross etc .). Then as a touring artist in the 1980 ’ s he was in not one , but two of Christian arena rock ’ s best bands … Giant and Whiteheart ( still having a fan base even today ). A side note , his brother David played drums in both those bands .
Since then , Dann has been a significant music producer in Nashville with another mile of remarkable credits under his name ( Taylor Swift , Faith Hill , Lonestar , Rascal Flatts , Rebecca St .
