FAITHFUL IN THE SMALL THINGS ( 45 YEARS LATER )
Earlier this year I was in Anaheim for the NAMM Show ( the music gear manufacturers largest convention ) and I was asked to tell my story in a video interview for NAMM ’ s Oral History . It was quite an honor . I joked that since I had been around for so long , they better get me on tape while I ’ m still walking the earth .
As publisher and editor of my magazines over the years I am usually the one asking the questions to musicians / artists and not the one answering them .
I have had the privilege of not only publishing Christian Musician and [ WM ] Worship Musician magazines but also a mainstream publication called Collectible Guitar as well .
All of these things stemmed not from my high school or college education ( an AA Degree from Harbor College in Los Angeles was nice ) but from my life experience simply trying to be faithful in the small things . The Lord was so faithful in giving me opportunities repeatedly ... and then seeing brick upon brick , stone upon stone … God ’ s favor in my life .
Besides publishing , I love producing live events . There is something about it . I started with small Christian heavy metal band concerts in Los Angeles ( anyone remember Holy Soldier or Neon Cross ?) and then that grew to me either promoting or co-promoting over 100 concerts in the Great Northwest in both Washington and Oregon . Next after that the Christian Musician Summit conference was born and Matt Kees ( the designer for the mags ) and I have produced 36 conferences in 5 different states over the last 20 years , and I am looking forward to the next one November 3-4 in Tacoma , WA .
Then the Lord gave me an opportunity to start producing mainstream guitar shows and festivals . Now over 25 guitar shows later it is amazing to see how the Lord allowed me to build relationships with the exhibitors and attendees and hopefully let the light of Jesus shine through my life in this mainstream setting .
Along the way our relationship with NAMM has grown and I was able to start the Night of Worship at NAMM , host the Worship Musician ’ s Chapel and the Pre-NAMM HANG .
If you are interested in hearing some of my testimony and the story of God ’ s faithfulness in my life , here is the link to that 30-minute interview . It was early in the morning when we recorded the interview , and my voice was still waking up .
It like I always say … ½ of life is showing up to see what the Lord has for you , but you ’ ve gotta show up !
Hope you like it !
