In my opinion , I would say that if you ’ re leading worship for a group of 50 to 5,000 , you need to be wearing in-ear monitors . However , when some folks stretch their budget just to put $ 1,000 down on a decent guitar , they often don ’ t want to drop another $ 1,000 just for wireless monitors . believe proximity helps a good bit when there are difficult conditions in the room .
At NAMM , I visited with Peter at XVIVE about their new U4T9 setup that included the U4 wireless IEM system combined with their new T9 In-Ear Monitors . Keep in mind that you could have a very expensive wireless monitor and still have a musician show up with $ 10 earbuds they picked up at a gas station on the way to church . The earbuds are just as important as the wireless system itself . I have said it before , but I love finding gear that works well and is affordable for the average musician or church . I have seen the XVIVE product lineup for a while now . We have a few of the wireless guitar systems at our church and they have really worked well for us . If you ’ ve read my other articles , you know that my church has multiple venues and multiple Wi-Fi networks that operate over the entire campus and some local per room . Out of the box , I was quite impressed . The form-fitted , sturdy carry case is important for this portable system . The transmitter and receiver pack feel substantial and rugged , ready for use and a little abuse .
