NEW MUSIC
All who wander , every outsider , you are safe here , whosoever ”. The message is simple but important as we all need to be reminded of the importance of inclusivity and how God calls us to love all people no matter who they are .
“ Beloved ” is a humble call for believers to return to unity in Christ during these unsettling times while on the opposite end of the musical spectrum , “ Hallelujah Anyway ” features vibrant violins , drums and mandolins as believers are called to live daily in the promises of the Gospel when the darkness threatens to overpower us .
“ True In The Light ” brings a little more of a southern Gospel vibe from the group as we are reminded that the promises of God are just as true in the dark as they are in the light of our lives .
“ We Need the Love of God ” wraps the album up with some slick writing as the band calls us to turn from cold religion and to live in the love God which spurs us to love others .
Whosever is a sneaky deep album filled with rich ideas and phrases that will cut to the heart while pointing out the hope of who we are in Jesus . On the surface it may seem like just another collection of zany , fun songs that will have your toes tappin ’ and your hands playing drums on your chair as you listen , but there are a bunch of moments that will bring you to the heart of Jesus and the love He has for every created being .
TRIBE AND TONGUE Where Sin and Savior Meet
1 . Dancing In Your Freedom 2 . Confident 3 . Jesus , Be Glorified 4 . In The Blood Of The Lamb 5 . This Is Love
Tribe and Tongue is a worship collective of song writers , performers and musicians that began at Concordia University in Irvine California when the band members were in college . Since then , the ten-member collective have spread out , most working at churches in music ministry but were brought back together during the pandemic when virtual collaboration brought a new and exciting way to ring in a new season of song writing . The result of these efforts is their first EP , Where Sin and Savior Meet which features five newly penned songs of honest , vertical worship .
The name “ Tribe and Tongue ” is derived from Revelation 7:9-11 which reminds us that Jesus came for every person and the band ’ s mission is that all people would come to know the Gospel through their music and have no choice but to respond with utter praise and worship .
The EP begins with the energetic and catchy “ Dancing In Your Freedom ” which begins with rhythmic toms and guitar arpeggios as worship leader , Brandon Li confidently reminds us that the blood and power of Jesus ’ name brings true salvation . This song would be a great Easter opener for any congregation .
“ Confident ” brings the energy back with a
simple stripped back piano as Allison Li sings about the faithfulness of God in our lives while “ This is Love ” brings a warm folk feel with acoustic guitars and a peace filled message of hope that would be perfect for a Good Friday service .
One of the best songs on the album is the Easter infused , “ Jesus Be Glorified ”. Led by the powerful vocals of Allison Li , this glorious exposition of the resurrection of Christ will ignite your heart and have you singing victorious praise the first time you hear it .
“ In the Blood of The Lamb ” is another standout track that is a compelling call to repentance and renewal . Led by Michael Verberg , this track speaks boldly of the freedom that waits for us in the blood of the Lamb when we confess our sins and receive the forgiveness that only our God can give .
This was a great first effort by the Tribe and Tongue folks . Every song is well written with a myriad of Bibilical truths mixed with solid melodic content , catchy hooks and poignant phrases .
Personally , I have already added a few of these songs to my Sunday morning “ to do ” list . You should too .
