A few years ago , on a Wednesday night before the NAMM Show , I was invited to Korg ’ s press launch of the KRONOS workstation synth . Hearing those new on-board sounds was amazing . Everything from big and beautiful grand pianos , to smoking B3 organs , to gorgeous warm strings pads and then adding in the outstanding analog vintage 70 ’ s progrock synth patches . Wow ! I knew Korg was on to something .
When I heard that Korg was releasing this new NAUTILUS Digital Performance Synth Workstation and that it has those 9 same onboard sound engines from KRONOS plus expansions for PCM and piano engines I said , “ Count me in !” for the opportunity to review it .
So here is my dilemma . There are so many features and specs in this board that if I try and cover them all here , well - there just isn ’ t enough room in this product review . I will however list a few of these features that appeal to me most , and then offer you a laundry list of features and specs below . So , my role here will be to add some observations to a very deep and invigorating synth workstation .
SOUNDS AND MORE SOUNDS
How does 2,200 sounds suit you ? Everything from your meat and potatoes great sounds that you will use in your worship sets , to wildly creative ones you can use for your Youth Camp video montage productions . Korg offers you several ways to list and store these for quick reference . Of course , you can tweak any of the sounds several ways to your own personal taste and store those as well .
